A Hidden Gem in the City
What I love about Palacio Fronteira is that it’s a bit of a secret. It’s tucked away in the Benfica neighborhood of Lisbon, far from the tourist crowds of Sintra. You step through the gates and suddenly, the noise of the city disappears. You’re surrounded by lush green gardens, fountains, and that iconic Portuguese blue tilework everywhere you look.
For guests flying in from abroad, it’s perfect. They can enjoy the vibrant city life of Lisbon in the morning and be at this serene, royal estate in the afternoon without a long drive.
Ceremony Among the Tiles
The ceremony took place on the main terrace, right in front of the Gallery of Kings. The backdrop here is insane, huge panels of blue and white tiles reflecting in the water of the basin. The bridal couple kept the decor simple, which was a smart move. With so much beauty around you, you don’t need much. Just white flowers, the golden Lisbon sun, and the deep blue of the surroundings. As a photographer, the light here is a gift. The white stone and blue tiles act like a natural reflector, giving skin tones a soft, luminous glow. We spent the portrait session wandering through the gardens, finding quiet corners away from the guests. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like a walk through a private museum.
Dinner Under the Stars
As the sun set, the party moved to the garden for dinner. Dining alfresco in Portugal is something special—the air is warm, the wine is incredible, and the atmosphere is just so relaxed.
They set up long tables under the trees, lit by hundreds of candles. It was intimate and joyful, exactly how a Portuguese wedding should be.
This is why I love shooting in Lisbon. It has that mix of old-world grandeur and effortless hospitality. It’s not stiff or uptight; it’s warm, welcoming, and incredibly stylish.
Thinking of a Lisbon Wedding?
If you’re dreaming of a venue that feels historic but intimate, Palacio Fronteira should be high on your list. And if you’re looking for someone to capture not just the epic architecture, but the real feelings of your day, I’d love to be there.
Let’s create something beautiful together in Portugal.
